Update on the coronavirus – 24 March

Thumbnail Update on the coronavirus – 24 March 24 Mar 2020

As a result of the general lockdown, almost all standard distribution services in Italy have now been suspended.

In addition, the Italian government has taken additional measures which will be in force as of 26 March.

In a nutshell, this includes the compulsory closure of many companies that have so far been allowed to remain open.

This decision has a significant impact in Italy on the available transport and storage capacity and the associated costs.

For this reason, we once again make a very urgent appeal to you.

If you intend to send a shipment in the coming weeks, anywhere in Europe, please first check whether loading and unloading can be done at the addresses. In these exceptional times it is very important that shipments do not get blocked while in transit, simply because transport capacity is under pressure and storage capacity is almost nowhere to be found. With this you do everyone a great favour and save yourself potentially high extra costs.

In certain cases we may have to deviate from existing rates, especially if we have to deliver smaller volumes to certain areas.  It is also possible that lead times cannot always be met.

We hope for your understanding and cooperation.

If at any time you have any questions about the transport of your shipments to a certain area, please feel free to contact us.

Best regards, on behalf of the management of the BAS Group
