The UK’s location and infrastructure make multimodal transport possible: a combination of short sea and road transport. The longer transit time is compensated by lower freight costs and CO2 emissions. This less expensive, sustainable sea transport leaves from Rotterdam and IJmuiden for the ports of Hull, Newcastle and Felixstowe. Another advantage of multimodal transport is that it allows us to avoid any problems at the border between Dover and Calais – as a result of Brexit.
